You can request deletion of your Client or Musician account at any time from your account settings. To protect both sides of a booking, deletion doesn't happen instantly — it follows a short review step and a 14-day grace period before anything is permanently removed.
Step 1: We Check Right Away Whether Your Account Can Be Deleted
When you request deletion, we check your account immediately — not after the 14 days. Your account is eligible for deletion if it has no active items linked to it, such as:
- A confirmed booking for an Event that hasn't happened yet.
- A pending booking request waiting on a Musician's approval.
- A cancellation request waiting for the other party to respond.
- An Event that's currently in its check-in / verification window, or one that ended without both parties checking in and hasn't been reviewed by a moderator yet.
- An open expense claim related to a late cancellation or an unverified Event.
- A pending payout (Musicians) or a pending Book Now, Pay Later payment (Clients) that hasn't been processed yet.
If any of these apply, deletion is blocked for now. You'll see exactly which booking(s) are causing the block, so you know what to resolve first:
- Booking ID: #XXXXX — Pending
- Booking ID: #XXXXX — Confirmed
Once those items are resolved, you can request deletion again.
Step 2: The 14-Day Grace Period
If your account is eligible, deletion doesn't happen immediately. Instead:
- A 14-day countdown starts from the date of your request.
- Your account stays active during this time, but Gig profiles (Musicians) are paused and removed from search — they can't be made live again unless you cancel the deletion request.
- From the moment the request starts, your Gig(s) can no longer receive new booking requests. If someone tries to book you anyway using an old link, they'll see: "This musician is not currently accepting booking requests."
- You can cancel the deletion request at any time during the 14 days by logging back in or contacting support. Nothing is lost — your account and any paused Gigs return to normal.
Step 3: What Happens After the 14 Days
If the request isn't cancelled, your account and Gig profile(s) are deleted at the end of the grace period:
- Musicians: each Gig name is replaced with "Musician," the Gig photo is replaced with a default placeholder image, and any photos, audio, or video you uploaded for that Gig are permanently deleted from our storage.
- If a Client had a past booking with a Gig you've deleted, they'll still be able to open that booking — but the Gig name will show as "Musician" and the photo will be replaced with a placeholder, as above. This lets Clients keep their own booking history and records intact without exposing your personal data.
- Clients: your name is replaced with "Client," and any images associated with your account are permanently deleted from our storage.
- If you had a past booking with a Musician, they'll still be able to open that booking and see your anonymized profile — with your name and photo replaced as above. This lets Musicians keep their own booking history and records intact without exposing your personal data.
- Reviews are not deleted. Reviews you left, and reviews left about you, stay on Mucanto with the star rating and written text exactly as submitted — only the name shown is replaced with "Musician" or "Client," and the profile photo on the review is replaced with a default placeholder. This keeps the review system fair and trustworthy for everyone still using the platform.
- Your account cannot be reactivated. Using Mucanto again means creating a new account from scratch.
Musicians: Delete Your Gigs First
A Musician account can only be deleted once all of your Gig profiles have been deleted individually. If you try to delete your account while Gigs are still active, we'll let you know and point you to the Gigs that need to be removed first. Each Gig follows the same eligibility check and 14-day grace period described above.
Accounts With Both a Client and a Musician Role
If you use Mucanto as both a Client and a Musician on the same account, a few extra checks apply to keep both sides consistent.
Trying to book while your deletion is pending: if you have a deletion request in progress and try to start a new booking, you won't be able to proceed until you cancel the request.
This check also applies if your account has a linked Musician role with an active Gig profile — a pending deletion blocks new bookings on both sides.
Deleting your Client account while a Gig is still linked: if your account also has an active Musician Gig profile, you'll need to delete that Gig first before your Client account can be deleted.
Deleting your Musician account while you also have an active Client role: if your account also has a Client role, the same eligibility checks described in Step 1 — confirmed bookings, pending requests, cancellation requests, check-in windows, open expense claims, and pending payouts or payments — are checked against your Client-side bookings as well. If any of those apply, deletion is blocked until they're resolved, just like on the Client side.
What We Keep, and Why
Deleting your account removes your public profile and personal data, but a small amount of information is kept afterward because we're legally required to:
- Records of completed bookings, invoices, and payments are kept for a minimum of 5 years (and up to 20 years in the case of a tax audit), as required under Greek tax law.
- Information tied to an active dispute or investigation may be kept a little longer, only for as long as needed to resolve it.
- Deleted data may briefly remain in routine backup copies until they're naturally overwritten — these backups are never accessed for anything other than restoring the Service in an emergency.
This information is kept privately for legal and accounting purposes only — it is never shown publicly. For the full details, see our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
